Brief History:

The Company was originally formed in 1921 as a partnership between twin brothers, Ray and Rex Caffall.  During the Great Depression, the brothers acquired significant tracts of timber, providing the business with enough high quality structural pilings to become a major supplier to both the foreign and domestic heavy construction industries.  In the ensuing years, log sales commenced to Pacific Rim countries, most notably Japan.  In 1964, the Company incorporated as Caffall Bros. Forest Products, Inc.  During the 1970s, management diversified into cedar products by acquiring a cedar sawmill in Oregon and building a mill in Washington State.

Currently:

Caffall Bros. Forest Products business is marketing raw logs.  The Company has several different locations in which it purchases logs in Oregon and Washington.

Philomath Oregon which covers the central Willamette Valley to the coast.  The Molalla Oregon area includes the Portland metro region east to the Cascades and south to the Salem district.  Rainier Oregon and Longview Washington's working circle is north to Olympia Washington, south to the Portland Metro area and west to the Oregon and Washington coasts.

Caffall Bros. Forest Products purchases the majority of the conifer and hardwood species that grow in Oregon, Washington and Idaho.  We are most interested in Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar saw logs.   The Douglas Fir saw logs that Caffall Bros. aquires are primarily used in the export market.  These logs will be sent into the Japanese, Chinese and Korean log markets.  The Douglas fir logs that do not make this export category are then sold to the local domestic saw mills and made into lumber to be used in home construction throughout the United States.

The Western Red Cedar saw logs are primarily used domestically in the Pacific North West sawmill industry.  The primary use of the logs are for the production of  fencing, decking and siding which will be used throughout the country.

We work closely with several conifer and hardwood domestic sawmills in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. These mills use a variety of species and Caffall Bros. supplies them with quality domestic saw logs for their particular usage.
